Remember the Ride™ - The Biggest Little Classic Vehicle Event in America!
Hot August Nights marked its 40th anniversary in 2026 running 10 days from July 31 through August 9. Several venues across Reno, Sparks, and Virginia City offered classic-vehicle displays and cruises, live music, drag racing and burnouts, auctions, and other activities celebrating the cars and popular culture of the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s. Spectator access to many events was free. More than 500,000 people attended, and over 6000 vehicles participated. This incredible gathering can easily be considered a major gearhead and cultural event

The event kicked off in Virginia City and expanded into the Reno–Sparks area. Show-and-shines - parking lots full of vehicles where you can talk with the owners and see the cars up close - were at venues around the region, while nightly planned cruises put the cars on parade through downtown areas. Other highlights included AMSOIL drag races and burnouts, a swap meet, and the MAG collector-car auction.
Music was a major part of the anniversary atmosphere, harkening back to the original format 40 years ago, with headline performances and tribute acts. On the final Saturday, Blood, Sweat & Tears played a free headline concert in downtown Reno, while more entertainment was provided throughout Sparks. And long overdue, a new Women with Wheelz showcase brought welcomed life and diversity to the event.
On August 9, a final parade of classic vehicles ran through downtown Reno, following the Parade of Champions where vehicles . Together, the opening events, weeklong displays and cruises, concert nights, and closing parade gave the anniversary a celebratory arc—and offered different ways to take part, whether visitors came for the cars, music, or spectacle.

Hot August Nights 2026 was a nostalgia-imbued gathering that turned the Reno–Sparks area into a showcase for classic motoring and mid-century American pop culture. Its signature appeal was the combination of restored, modified, and work-in-progress vehicles on display and a wide range of fun, related activities wrapped in uniquely American memories from an automotive era that influenced the global industry.
